3.5 years of marriage, 5 states...

I am in Indiana. I live in Indiana. I cannot believe it.  Here is why I cannot believe it: Jacob was born November 30th, 6 days later we drove to California where Daniel worked for about 8 months.  Then we moved the little guy to Kansas where we lived for two months!  Better jobs were in store, so now we're in Indiana.  Well the locals call it Kentuckiana, I think, I haven't actually met many locals.  We are about 7 miles from the border of Kentucky and lots of people work in Louisville, so we are Kentuckianans (tricky to say).

I have actually  loved moving around, well most of it.  Unpacking...not so much.  But I have learned many lessons, such as throwing away things that you haven't used in the last three states...and that there are amazing people everywhere you go.  But I have become sooooo much more independent than I really ever wanted to be.  I was always the girl that wanted to marry a local boy so that I would be close to my family.  Well I got the local boy, but I'm not close to family.  I have figured out that being away from family encourages you to build more genuine relationships with the people around you.  When I was in Utah I rarely ever felt the need to make a new friend, now it is a survival technique.  I need to find people to talk to, even just to ask them what pediatrician to use for Jacob.

I am just grateful to Heavenly Father for letting me grow through this interesting life that I lead.  I am grateful to be Jacob's mom and Daniel's wife.  I hope that everyone can enjoy reading about the adventures of us, and good luck keeping up with the Hickens!
